We hiked this from the official trail head on the road. We made it to the first rappel (or the last rappel if you were descending from the top).

There were several nice slot sections in this hike, some with some significant scrambling. One in particular was quite challenging for me. Luckily the boys are small and light enough I was able to toss them up and over.

There was also one section with crotch-deep water. Alone, I could have stemmed over it, but I thought it was too challenging for the boys (it was probably 100 feet long, and fairly wide). Thus I carried them across it.

This is a really nice hike. Maybe someday we'll come back to descend the canyon all the way from the top.
